Practice Works from My Early Days
Around 2006-2007, I got curious about CG painting. Bought my first Wacom tablet, grabbed a CG painting book, and just… started.
Then grad school happened. (You know how it goes.)
Years later, I'm hoping to pick up where I left off.
I've always been drawn to figure paintings with a rich, oil-painterly texture — so I turned to the masters to learn.
On the right is some practice work based on a concept art from a game I love. I did quite a few studies of it.
I also looked to many talented CG painting artists for inspiration — and painted my way through a messy mix of studies, probably digesting more than I understood.
I also dove into CG art with a touch of traditional Chinese ink — and let's just say, I painted a whole lot of pretty faces. (No regrets.)
